Got email from my lawyer that my Receipt Notices were already received by his office.
My application for I-140/485/EAD was sent on July 30 and received on July 31. I checked it online and it says "On September 6, we received your....".
I filed in NSC and I received LIN numbers.
I will support the rally; it is just I really cannot come due to personal reasons. I already called some of my friends and some are joining the rally. I also sent some e-mail to the office of the Governor of California, to our congressman, and Senator.
I am sending some mails to the media.

Being working in a non-cap h1b and in same place for the past 7 years(went to school also here). I am desperate for a new job which obviously will take me to new place.
With an EAD and approved i-140 i can't use being single.
had i known 0.1 % of immigration rules 3 years back...then i would not have accepted this non-caped h1b job.
All i need now is not GC...I just need a caped h1b. I can even trade in my GC benefits for this....!!!
But i am not depressed.. i have accepted this has another options for myself.
Consider u r self fortunate to have not got stuck like me....!!!

There is very simple reason for this, during 1999-2002 H1B cap was raised to 190,000 even if you make a guess on the lower side more than 50% of these H1Bs went to Indians, so atleast 200,000 Indians entered US between 1999 when these people filed their Green Cards most of them filed under EB-3, b'cause retrogression wasn't there and everthing was current, lot of people, who were in the states where labor took less time, kept getting their green cards, in the meantime a huge chunk of people from states like NJ, NY, TX, CA got stuck at the labor stage with PD in 2000 and up. So basically lot of 2002 & above got cleared but these people with older PDs were stuck. Now when these Labors are cleared, with just 3300 Green Card numbers every year, it'll take 20 years or more for EB-3 cut-off dates to move to 2009.
Can you tell me why EB3 is lagging so much
I hope I had got answer to this question ? I am still searching and been doing for last 2 1/2 years from the time I joined IV.

I just visited last month. I stayed there for 6 weeks...
Agree that economy is booking but....
(1) too much pollution.
(2) No infrastructure to handle cars and two wheeleers.
(3) too much mosquito even in winter/summer. I do not know what will happen in rainy days.
(4) prices for every item have gone up by 3X..Most of the item I am not able to justify the rise. The quality of the product has not gone up.
(5) easy to set up business..get house...get car but tough to drive peacefully...need to pray god every morning so that we come back home with 2 hands and 2 legs and unbroken body parts.
(6) Club culture is booming too...so if you have daughter who is teen then need to check by that angle too.
Just my two cents....
@ asdcrajnet - All the very best to you !! May you have a great life back home !!
@Thakkar
I agree there are many issues we have back home but after all it is our country -:)
there is something that pulls me back to and we are also thinking we will go back in the next couple of years. It will not be easy as we love this country too...but then one of the main reasons we are going back is the way is the culture here... I am not very comfortable with the culture here and would like my kids to have the Indian culture...I agree there is a lot of westernization back home too...but I guess there is some hope there still to have a little control on the kids...or help them go the right way...here I am not saying it is wrong...but is a totally different culture....which is what I am not able to digest....
Also, we are alone here no family or extended family and that too is not easy (I think)
Lack of social support....
I respect this country a lot and love this country (and my country too -:) ...I am what I am today because of India and US.
If we end up going (I am sure at some point we will), we will always be greatful to America !!!

Dear Sir/Madam
I am one of the skilled, legal applicants affected by the recent "Flip-Flop" of visa bullentins by USIS and DOS, and we are planning to protest against this decision the USCIS in a unique and peaceful manner - by sending hundreds, if not thousands of flower bouquets to the director of USCIS, Mr. Gonzalez on July 10th.
Please refer to the attached press release for more information
http://docs.google.com/View?docid=ap9x7pmvk6s_32c3khvg
More information about this initative and the current f iasco is available at http://immigrationvoice.org/
This is probably the first time when skilled, legal professionals are participating in an event like this at this scale and it goes to show the level of anxiety in the community right now. Would you be willing to write about this event ?"
If we can provide any more information, please contact me or the email address provided in the press release link.

nk2006,
please post contents of that yale article (your link is not working).
On the topic of “getting some of our measures during lame-duck session”, I am seeing some speculation (on other sites) that there is a chance these measures getting discussed during that session. I know these are just educated guesses, but it’s encouraging. see following:
================
From another thread on this site got this link, about Yale/Ivy League grads not getting H1B’s. There is quote from someone who thinks some immigration measures may be approved in Lame-duck session.
http://www.yaledailynews.com/Article...rticleID=33577
The House bill, the Senate bill, or some compromise may be approved during Congress' lame-duck session after the general elections in November, Yale-Loehr said.
=======================
This is from a leading corporate immigration law firm’s web page. They provide headlines and commentary on new regulations. There is some speculation about immigration measures getting discussed during lame-duck session:
The Road From Here:
On a broader scope, key House and Senate members maintain their position that Congress will examine comprehensive immigration reform in the period after the November election and before the start of the next Congress in January 2007, known as the "lame-duck" session. However, many of those involved in the debate over immigration reform question the ability of negotiators to reach an agreement, given the wide ideological gap between the House and Senate with respect to treatment of America's undocumented population.

your comments / speculation / educated guess.......??...

If you use AP you enter the US as a "parolee". (Is that how you spell it?).
If you use AVR I believe you enter as an H1B. I would prefer to enter as an H1B
since I have not yet used my EAD or AC21.
To clarify - are you suggesting that it is advisable to use AVR if you have both AP and AVR, and you have not used EAD or AC21 so far. Also, my spouse and myself could be returning at different times in to the country from Canada. Does this change the preference of using either AVR or AP. Since I am the primary applicant but of course we plan to land together.

Some of my cousins and friends who are just leaving college (even the prestigious IIT's) are unwilling to come to the US.
If they do come here, they are reluctant to go after the "GC". They want to wait for a few years, and would embark upon the journey only if there are any "fixes" in the EB GC system.
If not, there are several developed countries that take point based immigrant visa applications and give you a decision in a year or two.
Most of these young friends have already made plans to apply to these countries. Those who qualify have already applied. In one case, a friend whose H1B did not go through last year, immigrated to Australia. (Both he and his wife also found a job in less than a month.)
2, I can appreciate your position. You have already spent several years here, and yet no decision in the sight. If possible, you could still create a fall-back option like Canada/UK/Australia. A PR in these countries might give us easier access come back to the USA later (although not permanently).
Both you and Jazz are geralizing.
Most people here are in IT and have IT friends back home.IITans and IIMs get the best opportunities in India. IT ppl even from ordinary universities have a great future.
But what about others? I have several friends who have a B.S,/ M.S / phd in chemistry, art, sociology, agriculture but have limited opportunities in India. They would love to explore oppotunities in US , Europe or any developed country.
India and other developing nations have other priorities. The government would rather help the poor or improve infrastucture then fund a research project.

I guess one strategy would be only to file for principal applicants, get green cards, become citizens and then sponsor dependents would be a faster route than waiting through the EB route:) Just kidding.

I agree with UN's observations.
Many of us in this group doesn't have the wisdom to understand this including me.
However IV core should enlighten members so that they will stop going ahead with agendas that could be detrimental to our common goal. They should let at least the leaders of such efforts know why some of their ideas may be bad.

I have e-mailed the senators in Illinois.
Let's do following to keep this topic alive..
1) Please e-mail senators to your respective states. You can find the e-mail format from http://murthyforum.atinfopop.com/4/OpenTopic?q=Y&a=tpc&s=1024039761&f=1474093861&m=8821024251
2) We should have a rally to local USCIS offices.
3) We should inform Media well in advance about rally so we can get enough coverage.
4) We should contact Chinese groups for joining us in our mission.
This is not a single person mission. We should get to gather at this CRITICAL time.
Please don't let this fire go away.

None of this damn crap is fair. There are 3 lines in the green card queue. 1) Labor/PERM line, further subdivided on the basis of BEC, PERM, Employer willingness, exempt(NIW) etc. 2) the I-140 Line and 3) the I-485 line. These lines each have inconsistent patterns depending upon the winds of the day, a few years ago, LC/BEC lines were long, employers were less willing to sponsor green cards, and there was no I-140 PP processing, now all of a sudden PERM is there, PP of 140 came into being, and 485 became an eternal wait and country quotas came into being. For those that got screwed with BECs then PP 140 got removed when they were ready to file and now PD retrogressed into the stone age, it sure would seem like non sense for the guy who got PERM in 2 weeks, then PP 140 in 10 days and filed 485 in he July fiasco. Nevertheless you are only speaking in terms of degrees of getting screwed, since all are being done so by an unpredictable and unreliable system.
None of this damn crap is fair, we all know it. The only fair thing is for this country to decide who it wants and needs and sort them out ASAP. A wait of 2yrs, 5yrs or 10 yrs is immaterial, all of the above are ridiculous in EB immigration, degrees of unfairness is splitting hairs if you ask me. Up to 2 yrs is understandable, but beyond that implies a broken system which we need to lobby to fix. If we can all agree on that then, we have a platform to move forward with, otherwise we will get nowhere. When you average out the way most immigrants came to this land....................all of us are way more contributing and deserving, lets try to remind people of that as well as our future potential.
